Brain Trauma and Recovery

    Listen

    Hour 2

Representative Gabrielle Gifford’s doctors report that her condition has stabilized.  She can now breathe on her own and wiggle her fingers and toes when asked — quite remarkable for someone who was shot at point-blank range through the head.  In this hour of Radio Times, we’re going to look at the brain and gunshot trauma, from the surgery to the recovery process that follows.   Our guest DR. SEAN GRADY, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania, will take us inside the operating room and DR. TODD LEWIS, a neuropsychologist and brain-injury specialist at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, will explain the hard work to recovery.
