Guests: Jennifer Weiner
Do you like your body? The majority of women don’t. A new study found that only twelve percent of women over the age of 50 were happy with their size. Body image issues are so prevalent that this fall New York City launched a public health campaign “I’m beautiful the way I am” to boost young girls self-esteem. Bestselling author JENNIFER WEINER knows about this struggle and has confronted it in her novels, creating overweight heroines against publishers wishes. Now a mother of two growing daughters, Weiner’s thinking about how to raise self-confident girls in our body-conscious culture. Weiner is the author of ten books including Good in Bed, In Her Shoes, and most recently, The Next Best Thing. She talks to Marty about growing up big and why fat is a dirty word.
