Young teens help in slaying of Philly deliveryman

Two teenagers have been arrested in the death of a Chinese food deliveryman who was shot while dropping off an order in Northeast Philadelphia last week, police said.

Police said 49-year-old Rendong Zheng of North Philadelphia was killed shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday while making a delivery to the Hill Creek Apartments in the city’s Crescentville neighborhood.

Investigators said at least a dozen shots were fired, and one of them hit the New China Chinese restaurant employee in the shoulder. Police said he was able to drive away from the gunfire before losing consciousness and crashing through a fence. He was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police said Monday that the 14- and 15-year-old suspects are being charged as adults with murder, conspiracy, robbery and theft.
