Nearly 200 guests attended the 25th annual Wyck-Strickland Award dinner at the Down Town Club on Oct. 25.
Alan Greenberger, city Deputy Director for Planning and Economic Development and city Commerce Director was the latest to be honored for his ability to balance tradition and innovation as this year’s award recipient.
Greenberger, a faculty member of Penn’s Department of City and Regional Planning, is also chair of the city Planning Commission.
Nancy Goldenberg of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Wyck Association board chair Diane Newbury chaired the annual benefit.
The evening raised nearly $65,000 for Wyck, a National Historic Landmark house and garden in Germantown that was owned by the Wistar-Haines family for nearly 300 years.
The house, which was remodeled by architect William Strickland in 1824, features furniture and objects the family collected from 1690 to 1973, a 188-year-old rose garden, and a farmer’s market of food grown on the property. The house is open to the public April 1 through mid-December.
