World Meeting of Families hosting mayoral forum
ListenA small, international group of mayors will gather in Philadelphia as part of the World Meeting of Families at the end of September.
The 90-minute event is designed to examine how good governance can positively impact families worldwide, said Donna Farrell of the World Meeting of Families.
New Orleans Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu; Puebla, Mexico, Mayor Jose Antonio Gali Fayad; and Rome’s Mayor Ignazio Marino will join Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter a LaSalle University’s Gola Arena for the panel discussion.
Nutter said Tuesday the idea “was discussed in Rome in 2014 at a meeting with the Pontifical Council on the Families with Archbishop Paglia. We’ve been talking about it ever since.”
Organizers hope that neighborhood residents and LaSalle students will also participate in the event set for 6 p.m. Sept. 23.
