Woman fatally struck by car in West Oak Lane
A 53-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car at the intersection of Broad Street and W. Cheltenham Ave. early Friday morning.
Joan Ettienne of the 2400 block of 78th Ave. was struck by a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville driven by a 19-year-old man. The driver “stopped immediately and remained at the scene” in West Oak Lane, police said.
The victim was pronounced dead by Cheltenham Medics around 12:40 a.m., 10 minutes after she was struck by the car traveling eastbound on Cheltenham.
NewsWorks content partner NBC Philadelphia reported that the victim ran into the roadway and the driver was unable to stop.
No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
