Woman charged with DUI after crashing into a 39th Police District van

A 29-year-old Northeast Philadelphia woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving early this morning after she rear-ended a police van in the city’s Nicetown section.

At around 12:35 a.m., a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue traveling southbound on Germantown Avenue collided with a 2012 Ford E-250 that was stopped at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Dounton Street, according to police.

The 39th Police District van contained two officers.

The vehicle’s driver was unharmed. The passenger was taken to Temple University Hospital after complaining of pain. He’s since been treated and released, said Officer Christine O’Brien, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department.

The offender, whose name is not yet available because she is still being processed, was not injured in the incident.
