Authorities say a woman has been shot and killed in a double shooting in Wilmington.

Her death is the 27th homicide in the city this year, breaking the 2008 record of 26.

Wilmington police say 42-year-old Dawn Dollard was shot once in the chest and her 17-year-old son was shot in the shoulder Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Davis Street. Both were taken to Christiana Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. The boy was in stable condition.
