Wilmington candidates to address West Side issues

Candidates for mayor and city council of Wilmington take part in a forum tonight addressing the revitalization of the city’s West Side.

The West Side Grows coalition has members representing 19 neighborhood associations, houses of worship, agencies and businesses.  A ten-year comprehensive revitalization effort was recently finalized with the focus on improving housing, job opportunities, business, public safety, and health care.  The focus is on the region bordered by Pennsylvania Avenue, Jackson Street, Lancaster Avenue and the railroad tracks west of Bancroft Parkway.  It is home to more than 14,000 residents.  Candidates for mayor begin the forum at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, followed by candidates for city council.  For information call 302-658-4171, ext. 185.
