Qing Dynasty Collage Workshop: Design a Mandarin Square!
The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Jan. 13, Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 pmMandarin squares, or rank badges—large and colorful embroidered badges featuring animal insignias—were once sewn onto the coats of officials in Imperial China. And until January 13, 2013… MAYA 2012: Lords of Time leads visitors on a journey through the Maya’s time-ordered universe, expressed through their intricate calendar systems, and the power wielded by their divine kings, the astounding “lords of time.” Visitors explore the Maya world through interactive experiences and walk among sculptures and full-sized replicas of major monuments.

Families of any size shape and artistic ability can explore the galleries and make art together. The project for January will be Silhouette Portraits.
