Transit police probe confrontation between bus driver, woman

Transit police in Philadelphia are investigating an incident in which a bus driver was caught on video throwing liquid on a passenger and hitting the woman during a dispute.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority spokesman Andrew Busch tells The Philadelphia Inquirer the incident happened around 8 a.m. Friday in the Olney section of the city.

The video shows the driver walking toward a woman and dousing her with liquid from what appears to be a water bottle and hitting her twice in the face.

The footage was posted on Facebook and doesn’t show what provoked the confrontation. But Busch says investigators believe it was a fare dispute.

Busch says SEPTA police have interviewed the driver, but haven’t identified the woman involved.

The driver hasn’t been named or charged.
