Townsend Firehouse takes shape

Townsend residents can now see how their new firehouse will look in a few months and with that they can finally erase the memories of the heavy February snows.

Heavy snow caused the roof to collapse on the company’s banquet and meeting hall.  Now the trusses are in place and the plywood is ready for installation.  The final building should be complete in March or April.  Depending on the weather.

Insurance will cover most of the cost of the $2.6million dollar renovation.  When the project is finished to rebuild the 1978 structure there will still be $700,000 in uncovered costs.  The fire company has been holding fund raisers to cover the costs.
