Top 4 stories to watch for in NW Philly

Here’s a look at what’s to come on NewsWorks this week:

1. Cirque du Soleil’s TOTEM is coming to the Camden Waterfront for a month-long run starting May 30. Among the show’s many performers, is Greg Kennedy, a juggler from Germantown. We’ll catch up with Kennedy next week to talk about his skill and the upcoming performances.

2. On Monday, a public meeting will be held to discuss design plans for the Ivy Ridge Trail. The sixth-tenths of a mile stretch, which will connect to the Manayunk Bridge – set to become a recreational path -will start at Dupont and High Streets and continue to the Ivy Ridge train station. Check back next week for more details.

3. In March, Gregory Mitros was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of his wife inside their Manayunk home. Mitros, 54, could be sentenced to probation or up to five years in prison. That decision will be handed down next week.

4. 10 Buildings That Changed America tells the story of some of the country’s most influential pieces of architecture, the structures themselves and their creators. The film, which will debut on WHYY-TV May 12, includes the Vanna Venturi House in Chestnut Hill. We’ll have a story next week.
