Top six holiday events in Germantown and West Oak Lane this month
Looking for some Christmas Cheer in the Germantown or West Oak Lane area? Here are a few ideas:
Holiday Open House at Historic Grumblethorpe
On Saturday, Dec. 10, historic Grumblethorpe will hold its Holiday Open House from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the open house, visitors will be able create a holiday craft and have a picture taken with Santa Claus. Admission is $5 per person, $12 per family or two donated non-perishable food items per person. Grumblethorpe is located at 5267 Germantown Ave. For more information call (215) 880-8620.
The Johnson House’s Holiday Celebrations
The Johnson House will host a Carol Sing and Basket Giveaway on Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. Carolers will sing along the 6300 block of Germantown Ave. There will also be a basket giveaway. The night will conclude with a sip of cider at the Johnson House located at 6300 Germantown Ave.
The Johnson House will also host a Kwanzaa celebration on Dec. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program will feature African storytelling and drumming celebrating the principles of Kwanzaa. For more information about either of these programs call 215-438-1768.
The Center in the Park’s Array of Christmas Festivities
Center in the Park (CIP) will host several events at its 5818 Germantown Ave. facility. They include:
• The Guitar and Poetry Holiday Jam will take place tomorrow (Dec. 8) at 1 p.m. It will also be held in CIP’s auditorium.
• The Holiday Bazaar, a flea market, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. It costs $20 per table, but there is limited table space. To register, please call 215-848-7722.
• The Christmas party luncheon will be on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person.
