Top 4 stories to watch in NW Philadelphia this week

Here’s a look at what’s to come this week:

1. Kareem Alleyne is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. Alleyne is facing murder charges after allegedly running over and killing an off-duty police officer riding his bike in East Mt. Airy. Check back next week to see if the case is sent to trial.

2. A group of tenants at a West Mt. Airy apartment complex are asking a developer to address a series of code violations in advance of a scheduled renovation. The fair housing case will go before the city’s Fair Housing Commission next week. Check back to learn what unfolded during the Wednesday hearing.

3. The Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association meets Monday. The Manayunk-area group is set to discuss, among other things, the demolition of an historic building on Ridge Avenue, a planned apartment complex project and a neighborhood dog walking group.
