Thousands without power in Ocean, Neptune area

Thousands are in the dark in central coastal Monmouth County early this evening.

According to JCP&L, nearly 7,000 utility customers are without power as of 5 p.m.

The most impacted areas include Neptune and Ocean, where over 20% of the customer base is without power. About 9% of the utility base in Tinton Falls is without power. An isolated outage is impacting adjacent communities.

It’s due to a problem at a substation in the Wanamassa section in Ocean, according to emergency radio transmissions.
