The Coach's Perspective
We checked in with DSU head football coach Al Lavan as he preps his team for its trip to the University of Michigan.
I had a chance to chat with DSU head coach AL Lavan Tuesday as he gets set for Saturday’s trip to Michigan. Lavan is one of the steadiest personalities you’ll find in the coaching ranks, football or otherwise. That’s a very good thing this week, considering the Hornets are going to face Michigan in the Big House after losing to previously winless MEAC also-ran Bethune-Cookman at home in Dover.
Making matters worse, DSU’s starting QB Anthony Glaud left that loss to Bethune in the second quarter due to a concussion. His status for this week is up in the air, and if he can’t go, redshirt freshman Nick Elko will make his first college start, just one week after seeing his first college action against Bethune-Cookman. Elko was 5 of 15 passing for 32 yards against Bethune-Cookman.
