Temple University suspends two football players after arrests

Temple University has suspended two football players from the team after their arrests in an off-campus assault.

Dion Dawkins and Haason Reddick were charged Monday with aggravated assault. The 20-year-olds are free on bail pending a March 31 hearing. Court records don’t list lawyers for them to comment on the charges.

Police say the two were involved in a fight Jan. 18 at a party, during which a 21-year-old Temple student was kicked in the eye, fracturing his orbital bone. The student was pulling his friend away from a fight involving Temple football players.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Dawkins, of Rahway, New Jersey, started last season on offense; the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Reddick, of Camden, New Jersey, played in nine games last year on defense.
