There are some who think it not entirely unreasonable to think that President Barack Omaba might have his eyes on Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter for a job in Washington if he is re-elected in November.

Obama and Nutter have gotten more face time recently with a fundraiser last summer in Philadelphia, visits to the White House, and last week’s meeting of the U.S. Council of Mayors (Nutter is VP of the group and one of six mayors lauded by the White House for their approach to city budget negotiations). And Nutter has raised his own national profile, for better or for worse, with his reaction to youth violence and the Occupy movement.

It it a stretch to think that Obama might offer him a cabinet position — if he gets re-elected in November? Philadelphia Magazine‘s Victor Fiorillo suggests Housing, Education or Energy.
