Sports wagers promoted as sure bet for helping N.J. gaming industry

    New Jerseyans who go to the polls next month will choose whether to change the state Constitution to allow sports betting in the state.

    It’s the first step in a process that would include suing the federal government to allow New Jersey to pass legislation to allow sports wagers.

    Newsworks Tonight host Dave Heller spoke with one of the chief proponents of sports betting, State Sen. Ray Lesniak (D- Union).
