A Philadelphia police officer slain during a gun battle with two robbery suspects in a video game store will be honored with a national award.

The family of Sgt. Officer Robert Wilson III received the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor at the White House Monday. His grandmother Constance Wilson accepted the medal.

Wilson was doing a security check and buying a birthday gift when the robbery and shootout began in March 2015.
