Sestak gains on Toomey in Senate race
A poll released Wednesday shows Democrat Joe Sestak leading Republican Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race.
The Muhlenberg College/Allentown Morning Call poll shows likely voters support Sestak by 44 percent to Toomey’s 41 percent.
Chris Borick, director of Muhlenberg’s Polling Institute, said that as Sestak begins to catch up with Toomey, the race is much tighter than it was a month ago.
“It’s important for the Sestak campaign to have made a run to really, in some ways, break down the sense of inevitability that the Toomey camp was starting to form. And this race, by all measures, seems to be very competitive.”
Pollsters surveyed 403 likely voters in Pennsylvania. The sampling error margin is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
