SEPTA train tickets for papal visit on sale Monday

Listen

SEPTA will begin selling tickets at 9 Monday morning for those planning to take regional rail to see Pope Francis in late September when he is in Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families.

Tickets are $10 and available online only, said Rich Burnfield, SEPTA’s chief financial officer.

“Individuals will have to select a station they will be boarding at and a time.  There will be two time slots available for boarding between 5:30 and 8:30 (a.m.) and between 8:30 and noon,” Burnfield said. “We’re selling approximately 10 thousand tickets per station.”

Sales will be limited to 10 tickets per person, Burnfield said, because SEPTA is worried people will buy them in mass quantities and then resell them.

“EBay, Stub Hub, wherever folks sell tickets like that,” he said.

The first sale will be for regional rail only.  Those wanting to buy tickets on the city transit division will have to wait a week until July 27.
