Senator Carper unveils new veterans website

In an effort to put men and women who served the country back to work, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, D.Del, is urging them to visit the internet.

Sen. Carper, a former veteran, has set up a website that caters to veterans, providing them with resources that will help their transition back to the workforce. The resource page is located on Carper’s website. “From finding veterans health care facilities across Delaware, to securing the benefits that help vets further their education, to accessing special employment opportunities, my veterans page gives Delaware’s veterans a “one stop shop” for vital resources to help them lead successful lives,” said Carper in a written statement online.

The webpage also highlights Carper’s mission to help veterans, such as the recently introduced bill to protect and strengthen veterans education benefits. It also features links to local VA health care facilities in Delaware, financial literacy programs and homelessness resources.

“As a veteran, I understand the challenges that come with transitioning back to civilian life, and I hope this webpage will provide our vets with the tools and resources they need to live healthy, productive, happy lives.”

Also focused on helping veterans is Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del, who’s hosting Operation Success, along with Wilmington University.  Operation Success is an outreach event and job fair for veterans scheduled to take place Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wilmington University’s New Castle campus.
