Schuylkill Expressway is among worst commutes in the nation
You don’t have to drive on the Schuylkill Expressway everyday to know how awful it is. Those who take other routes do so for a reason.
But the bumper-to-bumper traffic is well-known beyond the region.
Traffic on the expressway — particularly between exits 347 and 338 — is among the country’s worst. We’re No. 18 out of 50, in fact.
Highways in L.A., Honolulu and San Francisco made the top three, but Fox29 talked to motorists today who are considering moving just to avoid the drive time mess.
We imagine those who don’t rely on I-76 are just as fed up with the congestion. Schuylkill commuter or not, “slow around the Conshohocken curve” is part of everyone’s rush hour soundtrack.
Last year The Daily Beast ranked the Schuykill as the 20th worst commute estimating that during a back up speeds average only 23 mph.
