The Roxborough Development Corporation (RDC) announced plans to renovate Roxborough’s image through business developments along Ridge Avenue after extensive community surveying.

“What we have learned from this survey is what people want to get from the area,” Executive Director of RDC James Calamia said. “Quality of life issues are really important.”

Some of the new marketing plans involve curating an annual calendar of events, especially those involving retail businesses and historical sites and anniversaries, to solidify a sense of pride among new and longtime residents in the Roxborough area.

Recognizing volunteers and community activists is also mentioned in the 32-page document about the 2020 plan. Increasing neighborhood involvement through appreciation events and new leadership opportunities are among the more captivating ideas behind the development.

“The majority see this as a great opportunity for Roxborough to thrive and grow,” Calamia said about the community’s reaction to the plan.

The event will be an informal gathering from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 6111 Ridge Ave. The goal of the meeting is to promote the development to neighbors and community members with the hopes of building a stronger volunteer base and fortifying the intention of creating a unified neighborhood.
