Right NEast/Wrong NEast: KYW makes up a street name

A man was kidnapped Sept. 21 and rescued by police on the 6800-block of Martinsville Road.

Of course, there is not Martinsville Road in the Northeast — or anywhere in Philadelphia, for that matter.

We’re guessing KYW’s Mike Dougherty didn’t go to the kidnapping scene that morning, or he would have realized the car containing the kidnapping victim was pulled over on Martins Mill Road in Lawndale.

Sounds like Mike got his facts over the phone. No judgment there, but we will call him out for failing to look at a map or asking his source to spell the street name.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
