Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Frankford’s ‘boom’ expands beyond the neighborhood

Frankford will boom soon, according to some.

Among them are State Rep. Tony Payton and Mark Tucker of Tucker Development Plus. They spoke with the Philadelphia Business Journal about the neighborhood’s changes and what could be next for Frankford.

“The Frankford Arsenal employed more than 22,000 people,” reads a line from the PBJ about the neighborhood’s history. The arsenal can’t really be credited for Frankford’s heyday, blamed for its struggles or held as a symbol for its bright future, though.

Because, well, the arsenal isn’t in Frankford. Nestled between the Delaware River and Tacony Street and north of the Frankford Creek, the arsenal is in the farthest reaches of Wissinoming, adjacent to Bridesburg.

But the PBJ got a Frankford tour from Tucker Development Plus. Though the company’s website contact page wasn’t working when we check it out, we imagine it’s not based in Frankford.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
