Right NEast/Wrong NEast: East vs. West makes all the difference

This is a first. We’ve called the big media outlets out on a lot of things, but we never expected to see such an obvious error.

In a report yesterday on Action News, a fire on the 6700-block of North 17th Street got a Northeast Philly dateline. We didn’t even need to read the full story to figure out it was wrong; the street name (or number) clued us in.

But this wasn’t a close-call-almost-NEast situation. The fire happened in the Northwest part of the city. And yes, Action News, there is a difference.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
