Ride the Ducks readies for the water, Murphy prepares an announcement

Good morning, Feeders! Hump day brings us two especially exciting events: a ride on the duck boats and a street theater performance about the BP oil spill. We’re covering both.

Tom MacDonald is already on a Ride the Ducks boat for a preview tour. The boats will be back on the Delaware River tomorrow.

At 1 p.m., Rep. Patrick Murphy will “be making an announcement about his future in public service.” Lizz Fiedler will be there, as Murphy is expected to speak about a possible run for Pennsylvania Attorney General.

Also on the state politics front, Susan Philips is heading to Radnor for a town hall meeting with Pat Meehan. It’s one of five town halls the congressman will hold today.

Chris Christie will go before the Supreme Court today about his education funding cuts. Critics challenge the New Jersey governor’s decision to cut funding, saying doing so diminshed the quality of education.

How to mark the anniversary of the BP oil spill? Street theater, of course. Peter Crimmins and Kim Paynter are heading to a North Philadelphia BP gas station where street performers will “expose Big Polluters’ influence over politics.”

Let’s hope the rain holds out. Philliebot will toss out the first pitch at tonight’s Phillies game. How well can he do compared with the 88 mph MLB average pitch? WHYY/NewsWorks News Director Chris Satullo suggests the bot might be able to replace some of the bullpen.

As early Alzheimer’s screenings advance, people will know earlier if they’ll one day have the disease. What’s the value of knowing something like that, and how do stages of diseases get identified?
