Eagles release cornerback Daryl Worley after reports he was tased, arrested in Philly

The Philadelphia Eagles have released cornerback Daryl Worley after multiple news outlets reported he was arrested in the city early Sunday morning.

The team announced the move in a tweet on Sunday evening.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport tweeted that Worley was arrested at 6 a.m. Sunday “when he became combative with police and Philadelphia police administered a taser on him.”

Philly.com reports Worley, a Philadelphia native, was found passed out in a car on Broad Street, near the Eagles’ practice facility, and was in possession of a gun.

Worley was a star player on the William Penn Charter High School Quakers, and went on to play for the the University of West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Eagles acquired Worley in a trade with the Carolina Panthers in March. They also acquired defensive end Michael Bennett in a trade with Seattle. Bennett was arrested last month on a charge that he injured a paraplegic woman as he tried to get onto the field after last year’s Super Bowl to celebrate with his brother.

Worley, a third-round pick in 2016, started 25 games in the past two seasons for the Panthers.
