Rep. Mike Gerber won’t seek re-election in Montgomery County

Pa. Rep. Mike Gerber, D-Montgomery County, has announced he won’t seek re-election, but will instead become Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Strategy, and Product Administration at Franklin Square Capital Partners in Philadelphia.
“While leaving the state legislature will be difficult, those who know me well know the demands and limitations of being a legislator often conflicted with my family obligations and aspirations,” reads Gerber’s statement, which the Main Line Times published in full today.

“The opportunity to join Franklin Square did not crystallize until a few weeks ago, and I had to delay my considerations while I was engaged in the state budget process,” Gerber said of the short notice. His new position is effective Aug. 20. “I will soon withdraw my candidacy for re-election with the Pennsylvania Department of State.”
