Rain weary Delaware preps for more

The state Department of Transportation is rescheduling some workers to deal with the potential impact of the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee.

Heavy rain is expected in the First State over the next few days, and with the ground already saturated thanks to Hurricane Irene and several heavy rains in the weeks before, the potential for flooding is high.

DelDOT work crews are out today clearing storm drains and preparing equipment.  Front-line staff are being scheduled to work overnight or during the weekend if conditions call for it.

The National Weather Service is calling for about three inches of rain in New Castle County, with as much as 10 inches forecast for central Pennsylvania.  DelDOT officials say even though three inches may not sound like a lot, after all the rain the state has already seen in recent weeks, three inches is more than enough to do some damage.  They say numerous downed trees, dangerous driving conditions and even heavy flooding could come to Delaware if the storm changes its track.
