Distraction burglary reported in Ocean Grove today
Police in Neptune are asking residents to remain vigilant after a distraction burglary in the township’s Ocean Grove section today.
A person claiming to be a utility worker visited a house and created a distraction, according to a release from the Neptune Township Police Department.
That’s when another suspect entered the house and stole items of value, police said.
“Any true employees of utilities companies must carry and display proper identification,” the release advises. “If anyone approaches your home and requests to speak with you or enter your home, and you are unsure of the validity of their identification or if they refuse to present it, please contact the Neptune Police Department immediately.”
Police did not release additional information.
Anyone that notices suspicious activity is asked to call the department at (732) 988-8000.
