Prosecutor: South Jersey man strangled ex-girlfriend, suffocated baby

Prosecutors say a southern New Jersey man strangled his ex-girlfriend and suffocated her 3-month-old daughter before dumping their bodies in a wooded area.

Ricardo Santiago, of Millville, pleaded not guilty Thursday after he was arrested Tuesday night and charged with homicide.

NJ.com reports that Senior Trial Attorney Michael Ostrowski says that Neidy Ramirez was killed by blunt force trauma to the neck after she was strangled with a cord. Ostrowski says she was found buried under a pile of leaves in Fairfield Township.

He says the baby’s chest was crushed by a knee and she was then suffocated when Santiago allegedly put his hands over her mouth and nose.
