Prosecutor: Baby found on fire on Burlington County road dies

Authorities say a baby that was found on fire in the middle of a residential road outside a southern New Jersey home has died from its injuries.

Investigators have not yet released details about the exact location or what happened.

Police were called to the scene in Pemberton Township, about 30 miles east of Philadelphia, around 11 p.m. Friday. Officers found the baby on fire and quickly doused the flames, but the child suffered severe burns and was taken to a hospital.

Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi said Saturday the child has died.
