Progress on Race Street Connector project

The Race Street Connector project – the streetscape and lighting improvements meant to make the linkage between the riverfront at Race Street Pier and Old City more obvious and pleasant – opens soon.

An opening ceremony starts at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Race Street and Columbus Boulevard. The new lighting – including a decorative metal-work sign beneath the I-95 overpass – will be turned on at 7:30 p.m., and festivities will follow on Race Street Pier.

A walk westward on Delaware Avenue early Monday evening showed new landscaping and benches and the metal-work sign installed, but not yet turned on.
