Princeton-based ice cream maker satisfying a craving in China

When China went looking for ice cream, a Princeton-based chain answered the call. In the next three years, 200 Thomas Sweet ice cream shops are expected to open in China, thanks to a Chinese businessman who developed a taste for the brand at a one of its shops in Washington, D.C.

The Times of Trenton talked to Marco Cucchi about his five U.S. ice cream locations and what he hopes will come of the deal in China. Cucchi started with Thomas Sweet as a scooper at age 14, and now owns the business. The first two Chinese locations will open in Wuhan, Hubei in August and in Shaghai by the end of next year.
