Traffic reminder: Princeton Avenue I-95 North ramp will close Tuesday

The following is a news release from PennDOT regarding accessibility changes to I-95 during construction:

As part of the ongoing project to improve Interstate 95 and its interchange at Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-95 will close Tuesday, March 5 for the relocation of a sanitary sewer main. The ramp is expected to reopen in late March.

During the ramp closure, Princeton Avenue motorists will be detoured north on State Road to Linden Avenue, and will turn left at Linden Avenue to reach the ramp to I-95 North. Message boards and signs will be posted to direct motorists along the detour route.

The ramp closure is required to allow crews to relocate the sewer main through the ramp.

This operation is associated with PennDOT’s $212.3 million project to rebuild and improve 1.4 miles of I-95 and the Cottman Avenue Interchange. PennDOT’s contractor is rebuilding and widening I-95 between Bleigh Avenue (located just north of Cottman Avenue) and Levick Street (located north of Bridge Street).

Walsh Construction Company II, LLC of Canonsburg, Pa., is the general contractor on the project that is financed with 90 percent federal and 10 percent state funds.
