Polls and fundraising favor Corbett in Pa.’s race for Governor
Republican Tom Corbett is running ahead of Democrat Dan Onorato in polls and fundraising in Pa’s gubernatorial race.
When it comes to both polls and finances, Republican Tom Corbett has big leads over Democrat Dan Onorato in the Pennsylvania Governor’s race.
The latest Quinnipiac University poll gives the Republican a fifteen point lead over his Democratic counterpart, and a 56-29 advantage among independent voters.
Corbett’s spokesman, Kevin Harley, attributes the gap to economic issues.
“I think the voters are concerned about jobs,” he says. “They’re concerned about taxes, and they’re concerned about state spending. All things that Tom Corbett is on the right side of, and Dan Onorato is on the wrong side of.”
Respondents told Quinnipiac University they think Corbett would do a better job handling the economy and the budget.
Financial documents released today show the Republican’s campaign has $7.7 million on hand, compared to Onorato’s $3.3 million in reserves.
Onorato is discounting the poll, saying it underestimates the number of Democrats who will turn out on Election Day.
