Politicians, business leaders embark on annual ‘walk’ to DC

Political honchos and business bigwigs from across the state will board an Amtrak train bound for Washington, D.C., as the state Chamber of Commerce commences its 79th annual “Walk to Washington.”

A key networking event on New Jersey’s political calendar, Thursday’s “walk” gets its name because many of the nearly attendees spend most of their time walking along train cars, shaking hands and meeting peers.

Once the train arrives in Washington, attendees go to a dinner that features speakers, including Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker this year.

Last year, Gov. Chris Christie spoke at the Washington reception, but won’t be there this year.
