Authorities say a woman crossing a west Philadelphia street with a several children was struck and killed by a minivan that fled the scene. A toddler was also injured.

Police said the minivan struck the 48-year-old woman at about 8 p.m. Friday and dragged her along the street and onto a cross street before she was dislodged, after which the vehicle fled.

The woman was pronounced dead a little more than an hour later at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center. The 3-year-old boy was flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police said several other children age 10 or younger weren’t injured because they were walking ahead of the woman.
