Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a woman went into the Cricket Cellular store near Germantown and Chelten avenues, walked behind the counter, put a 10-inch knife to the employee’s back, took an unknown amount of money from the cash register and fled, according to police.

Police said that when the unknown robber held the knife to the employee’s back, she stated, “Don’t get in my way” before grabbing money and “numerous inactive cell phones from the counter placing them into a black over-sized bag.”

The suspect, who fled south on Germantown Avenue, is described as a 5-foot 2-inch tall woman with a medium build. She was “wearing dark Muslim type attire, a silver belt [and] carrying a black over-sized bag with a reptile pattern on the outside.”

Police ask anyone with information about the case, or suspect, to call 911, the Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353/54 or the tipsline at (215) 686-TIPS, text a tip to PPD TIP (773847) or send it in via the department’s website.
