Police search for suspect in November Holmesburg murder

Police are still searching for the person who murdered a Holmesburg man in mid-November. As of now, leads on the suspect are limited, and the victim’s family is without closure.

Kenneth Huckstep, 22, was shot five times in the stomach during his short walk home from band practice Nov. 15.  Huckstep left the home in the 7900-block of Craig Street in Holmesburg shorty before 2 a.m., for what his mother and stepfather said should have been a short walk home.

Instead, his body was found on the 3300-block of Decatur Street — just a block from his house. His cell phone and wallet had been stolen, but his cash remained in his front pants pockets.

More than a month later, police are still searching for a suspect. They’re looking for a black male with medium build, who witnesses say was driving a purple or black Corsica. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
