Police make arrest in East Mt. Airy shooting

Philadelphia Police have arrested an East Mount Airy man in connection with a Monday night shooting at Germantown Avenue and East Slocum Street.

Officers arrested Sidney Snipes, 33, of the unit block of East Slocum at 12:29 a.m. Snipes was charged with aggravated assault, attempted homicide and other related charges, according to police department officials.

At 11:33 p.m., a 42-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was shot once in the abdomen and once in the neck. The victim then walked to Germantown Avenue and Carpenter Lane, the site of a fire station.

The victim was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
