Police: Armed man shot by officers in stable condition

Police say a man shot by police in northwest Philadelphia is reported in stable condition.

A police spokeswoman says officers responded to a report of a person with a gun just before 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Wynnefield section of the city.

Police said the suspect was located and he turned toward officers with the weapon, after which at least one officer fired.

Police said the man was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition. A weapon was recovered and a second man is being sought.
