Philly zoning code may soon contain the phrase “wacky-waving, inflatable arm-flailing tube persons”

This is going to be a short post.

In City Council yesterday, 6th-District Councilman Bobby Henon introduced a bill amending the zoning code to provide regulations for “wacky-waving, inflatable arm-flailing tube persons,” those massive, wind-blown balloon people you sometimes see at car dealerships who look sort of like fawning, cartoonish French waiters falling all over themselves to make sure your prandial needs are satisfied.

The title of the bill, co-sponsored by At-Large Councilman Ed Neilson, also contains a Family Guy reference.

“Levity of the bill’s title aside,” said Eric Horvath, a spokesman for Councilman Henon, “the focus is on regulating these things as they have become an eyesore to many among 6th District commercial corridors. Once the bill goes to the appropriate committee, the bill will be amended to reflect the Councilman’s intent (minus the Family Guy, Al Harrington references) – getting closer to uncluttered, viable commercial corridors.”

OK. Happy Friday.
