The celebration of Back to the Future Day reached its pinnacle Wednesday night at the Trocadero theater in Philadelphia.
Burlesque to the Future, performed by the Broad St. Burlesque troupe, paid tribute to the classic Robert Zemeckis film, Back to the Future II, on the day in the movie that characters Doc, Marty McFly and Jennifer arrive in the future, Oct.ober 21, 2015.
In the absence of an actual flux capacitor, a hoola-hooping dancer, Asha Rabbit, removed her clothes to the film’s iconic theme.
The plot of Burlesque to the Future loosely pulled film-themed strip teases together, as Doc Brown, played by Fancis Menotti and Marty McFly, played by Liberty Rose, attempted to get back the show program from old Biff, played by Flirt Vonnegut.
The Broad St. Burlesque troupe showcased dance moves from the ’50s, with Gemini Rose as Marvin Berry removing a suit coat to Chuck Berry’s Maybelline; and ’80s as Liberty Rose changed from Marty McFly of ’85 to 2015 to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Some crowd favorite moments were Doc telling Marty to be careful not “touch himself” in the future, and old Biff, “In my day I would have kicked my own ass for this crap,” to young Biff after he stripped down to his studded boxers.
Broad St. Burlesque is a Philadelphia-based troupe that has parodied Beetlejuice, Weird Al and Nickelodeion.
