Philly first-grader brings heroin to school

Philadelphia school officials say 20 first-graders have been checked at a hospital after a student brought heroin to school.School officials say the first-grader brought 10 packs of heroin Tuesday to Barry Elementary School in the city’s Cobbs Creek section.

District spokesman Fernando Gallard says the teacher evacuated the class after seeing the student playing with one of the packets.

Authorities say the students were taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a precaution. No injuries are being reported.
