Philly boy thought to have nosebleed was shot in head, dies

Philadelphia police say a 16-year-old boy first reported to have a nosebleed had, in fact, been shot in the head and has died.

Police say they were called to the city’s Elmwood neighborhood Sunday evening for a report of a boy with a severe nosebleed.

Police say paramedics realized during the ambulance trip to the hospital that the boy had been shot. He was pronounced dead about 7:30 p.m. at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Police did not immediately release the boy’s name, nor did they say whether they have any suspects or information about why he was shot.
